MAKING THE CASE
Every Black Bay begins life as a solid 316L stainless-steel blank, slightly thicker than the finished case. Using subtractive manufacturing, the blank is milled down with minimal waste: the interior is opened first, followed by the outer profile. This early case is then precisely machined into the Black Bay’s signature silhouette, heat-treated and strengthened, and finally hand-finished in a mix of brushed, polished, and satin textures to create depth and visual interest.
Working with stainless steel is complex, but in the end, it’s what lends a unique character to the Black Bay.
HYBRID MECA-QUARTZ MOVEMENT
"Meca-quartz" hybrid watch movement that combines a quartz timekeeping base with a mechanical-style chronograph module, offering the best of both worlds: high accuracy from the quartz components and the satisfying tactile feel of a mechanical watch, including a smooth sweeping chronograph hand and instant reset. Yes. VK64 is a bi-compax layout: a 60-minute chronograph counter (9 o’clock) and a 24-hour indicator (3 o’clock), plus a central sweeping chronograph seconds. VK64 models typically do not show running (time) seconds and do not have a date.
Most BlackBay builds are around 40 mm diameter, ~12 mm thick, 47–48 mm lug-to-lug, with a 20 mm lug width (see each product page for exact specs).
Accuracy is typically ±20 sec/month. Battery life is about 2–3 years under normal use (heavy chrono use reduces it slightly).
Yes—start/stop/reset cycles, hand centering, alignment, gasket checks, and final QC are completed on every build.
Rinse case/bracelet with fresh water after salt/sweat, dry with a microfiber, avoid harsh chemicals, and keep away from strong magnets.
